All day long bus services ( bus number 26 right through downtown). Also you can go to Mongkok, where major shopping streets (Temple Street, Woman Street) within 15 mins. Unique apartment location is situated in a quiet area (near Ho man tin) of city centre, besides Ko Shan Theatre, the most famous Theatre for Chinese Opera in Hong Kong, where you can enjoy convenience together with serenity.

The first thing that needs to be said is that accommodation in Hong Kong, either for residents or visitors is cramped and expensive. This needs to be said, because it places most of this review in context. What is adequate by Western standards, is almost unachievable to most Hong Kongers. You aren’t going to get a massive apartment in the middle of the city without paying a fortune for it.
Hong Kongers also have a far different lifestyle to, say, Australians or middle-America. They don’t cook at home all that much (why would you when eating out is so cheap and the food excellent). The majority do not own a car, but walk everywhere (or take public transport). This also affects their accommodation situation, as it tends to dictate what’s in the house (or maybe the house tends to dictate the lifestyle, I don’t know). Again, context.
Final piece of context – Hong Kongers aren’t as tall as the average Westerner (which allows them to make good use of their limited space.
The apartments at Ko Shan Road (on the border of To Kwa Wan and Hung Hom) are cheap n cheerful. They are very small, but as stated above, ‘normal’ for Hong Kong standards. It was a little cramped for us as a family, but that was expected. My only negative comment on that account would be that the photos do give the appearance that the room is larger than it actually is. It’s tiny. 2 bedrooms and about 2 feet of floor space on one side of the best. Cupboard space is excellent.
The beds are hard. In two trips to HK, I’ve found that this appears to be the norm. I didn’t mind it as the bed didn’t give me back pain. However, the bed is, by Western heights, narrow and short. I’m under 6 foot and my feet just hung over the edge. You also have one wall that the bed is up against on the side, which is a little difficult if two larger people are sharing it. However, it was adequate.
A great touch is the washing machine, which does save in laundry costs and convenience.
There is also a large amount of construction work next door which is extremely noisy. I’m pretty thick skinned when it comes to noise (having kids does that) and a heavy sleeper, but it was pretty loud.
What you lose in accommodation size, you make up in cheap food. Hong Kong is great if all you want to do is eat. Lots of good local food and at worst, the HKD$14 microwave meals from 7-Eleven are convenient and cheap. There’s also a food place about 3 doors up from 7-Eleven (with a Tomato on the outside wall) which does great food. Not cheap (but still affordable) by HK standards, but great for us.
If you want to eat at the same 4 or 5 local places and drink 7-Eleven beer, the location is fairly good. However, to get to any real food places, you do need to head down to Hung Hom proper (see openrice.com.hk), which is a fair walk or a cheap (HKD$20) taxi fare away. There are some great openrice award winners down there and the food is fantastic and cheap. The only exception to the Hung Hom rule is Sung Kit Street, which is about 4 blocks away and great for some food, but the Japanese down there can be hit and miss (thought the Japanese themed street is a nice touch).
If I had my decision again and decided on wimdu, I’d probably have gone somewhere on HKI for the same price and more convenience. Last time we were in HK, we went to (pre-renovation) Olympic Terraces suites in Sham Shui Po and got a room for 13 days for the same price as 19 days. We also had it serviced daily and new water put in. If I had this option, I might have gone with it again and fronted the few dollars extra.
Carrie is lovely (Anthony’s collegue, we didn’t meet Anthony). She appears to manage a portfolio of these properties on his behalf. The gentlemen that manage the building down on level 1 are also lovely and say hi.
All in all – it’s a cheap place to sleep and collect your thoughts. It’s close enough by taxi (which is dead cheap) to most suburbs in Kowloon (TST, Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei/Jordan for the Night Markets, Hung Hom for food). The train is a hike (best to take the taxi), but buses are close, out on Chatham Road. This isn’t a negative review, but a realistic one.
My family (three of us) stayed at Anthony’s apartment from June 25 – July 17, 2013. Anthony is friendly and nice guy. I asked him a lot of questions before I made a decision. His response was quick. I hardly got meet him one time during our stay. We deal with his housekeeper who is Carrie most of the time. Whatever we got an issue, Anthony and Carrie took a quick action to fix the issue. Like WiFi did not work on the first day. Next day Anthony fixed the WiFi issue. Anthony was kind enough to buy a big bag of potato chips for us and left some of Japanese snacks which were really old.
The apartment was nice and tidy. It is smaller than it was listed on the website. Three of us were okay for this small apartment since this is typical apartment in Hong Kong. It was so dusty on the floor and the cabinet. It appears that it has not been cleaned for a while. Also the standing shower did not drain properly in the bathroom. Every time we took a shower, it was like flooding. It took a while to drain out the water (we can manage this since we did not spend a lot of time in the bathroom). The bathroom obviously needs to have some maintenance. The apartment has our basic need such as wok, pot, utensil and electric kettle so we cooked a simple meal. Anthony even bought us a brand new wok when we told him that one of the pots was burn. We took the bus wherever we go since there is no MTR station in Hung Hom area, but the neighborhood has everything that you need such as convenient store (Seven Eleven & Circle K), supermarket, and restaurants. We walked to the bus stop and the market to get fresh fruit. The location wise would have been better if there were MTR station around the neighborhood. We have to wait a few more years to have MTR station get around in Hung Hom area…
The apartment was clean and tidy, smaller then what I expected but perfect for the 2 of us. Anthony was very friendly and helpful. Location wise it was nice and quiet. We got taxis into tsim sha Tsui most of the time as it was cheap and handy. The nearest mtr is about a 15 min walk away. I would recommend a stay in this apartment.
Stayed here with my parents. Really enjoyed the stay. The apartment was clean and neat. Very convenient by bus to get basically anywhere in Hong Kong. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to go to Hong Kong for holiday.
Miss Carrie is good and very friendly. But not giving discount as promised because the reason is we arrive after 10pm but we already informed her before this. The apartment overall is ok but kitchen is too small.
Beautiful apartment, the location was very good. They had in the apartment everything you need. The host was very friendly, we were able to check in early! Gladly again!
Schöne Wohnung, die Lage war sehr gut. Man hatte in der Wohnung alles was man braucht. Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich, wir konnten schon früher einchecken! Gerne wieder!
